I am the Jt. DC of my daughter's pony club and the Vice RS of our region and serve on the Pony Club Membership Committee. I'm working with one of our centers right now trying to convince the owner to add Horse Masters to her program. I love hearing about your positive experience and agree whole heartedly!!!!KC Gillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14917734211434805912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7993387408633391085.post-10178429093114559072015-02-12T09:01:34.687-08:002015-02-12T09:01:34.687-08:00From the lovely woman we bought Quizz from: I went...From the lovely woman we bought Quizz from: I went through a very similar process with my parents who are now seasoned horse buyers. They have realized they need to put complete trust in my knowledge and my trainers knowledge so it is refreshing to hear another parent who knows the ropes. My parents did not even see Capone until after he was purchased! Sometimes it takes a lot of trust in all people who are involved It also helps having amazing purchasers! I hope parents who are going through the process read this and realize that their child's safety is top priority and getting a free horse may cost more in medical bills! I also had to retire an 11 year old beautiful Irish Sport Horse and my parents lost everything they invested in him but I was constantly getting hurt! Sometimes it's not worth it.KC Gillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14917734211434805912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7993387408633391085.post-6515658101647202062015-02-12T07:52:40.547-08:002015-02-12T07:52:40.547-08:00Another solution--Pony Club Centers. They have lesson horses of varying levels so that as kids become more advanced, they can switch to a more appropriate mount for Pony Club activities including riding, horse management, and record keeping. My barn owner is super enthusiastic about this model and I think it is great because so many people can benefit from Pony Club, even if they don't have the resources to support a horse of their own. At 24 I am older than your average Pony Clubber, but it is the perfect model for me as a young adult without a lot of money, as well as for kids!
